Purolator Suspends U.S. FDA-Regulated Shipments Amid Increased Customs Delays — What Canadian Exporters Need to Know

Effective September 25, 2025, Purolator will temporarily suspend acceptance of shipments and/or manifests for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated products. The suspension comes in response to heightened scrutiny and major delays at U.S. Customs, affecting a wide range of products entering the United States.

This temporary pause will remain in effect until further notice as Purolator continues to monitor the situation in coordination with border and customs authorities.

Products Affected

The suspension applies to all FDA-regulated shipments bound for the U.S., including but not limited to:

  • Food products and dietary supplements
    Packaged foods, beverages, vitamins, minerals, herbal remedies, and supplements for human, animal, or plant consumption.
  • Houseware items used for food preparation.
  • Drugs and biologics
    Prescription and over-the-counter medications, vaccines, blood products, and related samples.
  • Eye prescriptions
    Glasses, contact lenses, and other optical devices.
  • Medical devices
    Everything from thermometers to MRI equipment.
  • Radiation-emitting devices
    X-ray machines, CT scanners, microwaves, monitors, and televisions.
  • Laser and industrial equipment
    Laser pointers, welding tools, automatic laser toys, and security screening systems.
